Tai Tzu-Ying is a professional Taiwanese badminton player. She was born on 20th June 1994 to born to Tai Nan-kai and Hu Jung in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung city. She is currently unmarried and doesn’t have a husband with her also said not to be dating anyone.

She currently ranks World no.1 in BWF women’s rankings and is using the Victor Thruster F racket which is primarily a singles oriented racket and the New Generation P9200II shoes. She is coached by Lai Chien-cheng.

At the young age of 22, the prodigy from Taiwan became the world’s No. 1 in the women’s singles in December 2016 and has the record for being the only women’s singles player ranked at the top in BWF history with 200 weeks as of 25 January 2022 to her name.

When she was in sixth grade, she played at the National ranking tournament already and, won the title in the second division which earned her right to participate in the first division games. Also, she became the youngest player to compete in the first division.

She made her international debut during the 2007 Vietnam International. During the Asian Junior Championships, 2009, she won the silver medal.

In 2010, she participated in a huge platform, the Superseries event in Korea Open. Later on, in April, she took part in the World Junior Championships in Mexico but unfortunately couldn’t compete further due to an injury in the quarter-finals of 9–16 places.

At the World University Championships in 2012, she clinched the Gold medal and Silver medal in Women’s Singles and Doubles respectively. Followed by that, in 2013, she clinched the Silver medal in Women’s Singles and Bronze in Mixed Team at the Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. Also, in that same year, she won a Silver medal in the Women’s Team at the East Asian Games.

At the Summer Universiade in South Korea in 2015, Tai Tzu-Ying won the Bronze medal in Singles. Next on, in 2017 Tai clinched two Gold medals in Singles and Mixed Team in Taipei’s edition of the Summer Universiade. In 2020, Tai Tzu-Ying won the National Badminton Team Championships title.

Tai Tzu-Ying created history at the Asian Games 2014 as she became the first shuttler while representing Chinese Taipei to win a badminton medal which resulted in her in winning the Bronze in Women’s Singles. In the next year, she secured the Bronze medal in Women’s Singles at the Asian Badminton Championships in Wuhan, China.

In 2018, Tai clinched her first World Tour title at the Indonesia Masters. She, later on, went on to win 10 World Tour titles which include the All England Open of 2018 and 2020 and, 2020 World Tour Finals (2020). During the 2018 Asian Badminton Championships, Tai Tzu-Ying retained her crown, followed by a Gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
