The semi-finals will see the final four teams from the 20 teams that started off the show-piece tournament.

Notably, this year’s tournament marked the largest in terms of the number of nations participating, with 20 teams.

The previous editions of the tournament featured only 16 competing teams.

T20 World Cup 2024

This year’s T20 World Cup started off with 20 teams divided into four groups of five teams each. After the end of the first round, the top eight teams moved on to the super 8 round, where the teams were further divided into two groups of four each. The top two teams from each group will now compete in the semi-final round, starting later this week.

So far, only the defending champions, England (2^nd place) and South Africa (1^st place), have confirmed their spots. Both teams are from Group 2 and have beaten the West Indies and the USA. Meanwhile, in Group 1, India is currently on top and will probably qualify for the semi-final, while the last spot will feature a close match between Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.

South Africa will play the second placed team in Group 1 while England will square off against the group toppers which should likely be India.

With the Super 8 matches set to conclude on June 24, the top four teams will progress to the semi-final. The semi-final matches will take place across two venues on Wednesday (June 26) and Thursday (June 27). Given below is the fixtures list:

There are two different venues that will host the upcoming semi-final matches. The Brian Lara Cricket Academy stadium, located in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago, will host the first semi-final match. Meanwhile, the Guyana National Stadium, located in Providence, Guyana, will host the second match.
