As the first group stage of the T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC tournament which started in 2007 with its first edition, comes to its conclusion, only three spots left for the next round, the Super 8s.
New Zealand and Sri Lanka are the two major sides that have already been knocked out of the tournament. On the other hand, Pakistan’s hopes are in shambles following a shocking defeat to the US and a setback to arch-rivals India.
The ongoing ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States with 57 matches across nine venues.

The T20 World Cup trophy was made by Amit Pabuwal in India after it was first created in 2007 by Queensland, Australia-based Minale Bryce Design Strategy.
T20 World Cup trophy dimensions
The renowned trophy is 57.15 cm tall, weighs about 12 kg, and measures 16.5 cm at its widest point before tapering to 13.97 cm at the base. It was later manufactured by Links of London.
Since 2021, Thomas Lyte has been the official manufacturer of the trophy made of silver and rhodium.
The ICC ODI World Cup trophy costs about 30,000 US dollars (Rs 25 lakh approx) to make but the cost of the T20 trophy isn’t known yet.
T20 World Cup 2024 prize money
The 2024 T20 World Cup has a record prize pool of USD 11.25 million (approximately INR 93.5 crore), according to the International Cricket Council. The champions will receive at least USD 2.45 million (about INR 20.36 crore).
The runners-up will receive at least USD 1.28 million (Rs 10.36 crore) whereas the losing semi-finalists take home USD 787,500 apiece.
The teams ranked ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth place will receive USD 247,500 apiece, while the four teams who do not go past the Super 8s will receive USD 382,500 each teams.
The other participating will receive a compensation of $225,000 for concluding 13th through 20th.

England is currently the defending T20 World Cup winner after defeating Pakistan in the 2022 final to win their second championship.
