Madhya Pradesh’s innings was anchored by their skipper, Rajat Patidar, who smashed a scintillating 81 off 40 balls, featuring six fours and six sixes. Despite losing openers Arpit Gaud and Harsh Gawli early, Subhranshu Senapati and Patidar stabilized the innings briefly. With 428 runs in the tournament at an average of over 61 and a strike rate of 186.08, Patidar finished as the second-highest run-scorer, behind Ajinkya Rahane.
Mumbai’s chase began briskly but was marred by the early dismissals of Prithvi Shaw (10) and Shreyas Iyer (16), leaving them at 50/2 in the powerplay. Captain Suryakumar Yadav (48 off 35) and Ajinkya Rahane (469 tournament runs) stitched together a crucial 52-run stand, taking Mumbai to 89/2 at the halfway stage. However, quick wickets in the middle overs, including those of Rahane and Suryakumar, left Mumbai needing 45 runs off the final five overs.
The match turned decisively in Mumbai’s favor thanks to a late blitz by Suryansh Shedge and Atharva Ankolekar. Notably, the duo dismantled the Madhya Pradesh bowling attack, scoring 33 runs in two overs to bring the equation down to 12 runs off 18 balls. Shedge’s unbeaten 36 off 15 balls, laced with three fours and three sixes, and Ankolekar’s quickfire 16 off six deliveries sealed the win in style, with the latter hitting a six to finish the game.
