Syed Ahmed Maroof is presently in Islamabad, according to a source at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry claims that talks on “bilateral relations and the regional situation” are a component of his visit.
The high commissioner was hurriedly returned, according to diplomatic sources in Dhaka, because of the controversy surrounding his suspected contact with a Bangladeshi female government official and his personal travel to Cox’s Bazar during the India-Pakistan war. According to social media rumors, he has been absconding ever since a video of him being honey trapped by a Bangladeshi woman went viral on social media platforms, however the veracity of these reports is yet to be confirmed with the leaked video claims only a rumor for now.
Since December 7, 2023, Syed Ahmed Maroof has been Pakistan’s ambassador to Bangladesh. He contributed in many ways to improving relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan after the Awami League administration was overthrown in the coup on August 5.
