The final event of the Sydney Classic International Women’s Singles was held between France’s Paula Badosa and the Czech Barbora Krejcikova where the French best the Roland Garros champion 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4) on Saturday to get crowned by the title.

She had also won against Krejcikova last year when both faced each other in the Indian Wells’ title race and World number nine, Badosa then too, dominated the natch that later for two hours and 22 minutes.

The Spaniard has been motivated by the event to enter the Australian Open with inspiration to defend her fourth singles title.

The players started with the serve break initially but then the French women earned three games back to back and ended the opening set 6-3.

Czech in the second, tried to bounce back but Badosa managed to overpower and balanced at 3-3 before Krejcokova managed to win a break in the ninth game but Badosa without a mistake supervised the game towards the decider.

The decider resulted in favour for French as she, without a mistake turned Krejcikova’s missed forehand into points for her as her third singles title.

The pair of Russian-Kazakhstani Anna Danilina and Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil overpowered German Vivian Heisen and Hungarian Panna Udvardy 4-6, 7-5, [10-8] at the final of the Sydney International 2022 to bag the women’s doubles tennis title.
