Srihari Nataraj’s Family And Education
Srihari Nataraj studied at Delhi Public School, Bangalore, and Jain Heritage School, based in Bangalore, later he studied at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College, Bangalore. He was born to Nataraj Venkataraman and his wife Kalyani. He also has one sibling Balaji Nataraj.
Srihari Nataraj began practicing swimming at the age of 2 years. He belongs to a family of cricketers and swimmers. His brother is also a swimmer, three of his paternal uncles have played Ranji matches, and one of his cousins has played along with the Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid. In the beginning, he also wanted to pursue his career in cricket.
Later on, Srihari Nataraj contested in the swimming competition when he was just five years old. Srihari used to practice freestyle in the initial phase of his career, but on his mentor’s recommendation, he began practicing backstroke at the age of ten and won his first gold medal with this amazing technique.
Srihari Nataraj made his international debut at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championships of 2015, where he acquired the 8th position in 200-meter Medley and 6th in 100-meter Backstroke.
Nataraj marked his first national record in the National Junior Aquatic Championships of 2017 held in Pune. He participated in 100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, and 200m Freestyle, and he got a gold medal in each category.
On 1st July 2021, Srihari Nataraj qualified for the FINA “A” standard qualification time in the men’s 100m backstroke time trial at the Settecolli Swim Meet in Rome, Italy, and became the youngest Indian male swimmer to directly qualify for the Olympics. Srihari, the
