Sachin Panchal refused to deliver the order.
A video where Sachin Panchal can be seen standing outside the iron gate of the temple area with mutton korma in his hand went viral. This incident took place on 1st of March 2023, which was ascertained from bill of delivery placed.
Sachin Panchal just refused to deliver mutton korma order to that destination because it was inside temple premises of the Marghat Hanuman mandir at Kashmere Gate, Old Delhi. His videos about the incident went viral, and following this, it has been claimed that Swiggy removed him from the job.
Business Today reached out to food tech major for a comment. The company responded by saying that delivery boy continues to be a part of Swiggy.
Speaking to India Today, Panchal has stated, “Naukri aaj nahi toh kal mil jayegi. Apna dharam bhi toh utna hi zaroori hai. Apne parivar ko chalane ke liye mein apne sanatan dharam ke bhaaiyon ko thes nahi nahi pahucha skta.”
(I will get the job tomorrow if not today. But religion is also that much important. Just because I want to earn some amount of money for my family, I cannot disappoint my brothers who are followers of sanatan dharma)
He also described the night when he went to deliver that order (containing mutton korma) to a place which was inside the boundary walls of a temple. He said, ‘he was scared of staying there for too long. But he got stuck to his conviction of not taking meat inside temple.
There are calls which have been records of him speaking to Swiggy customer care hotline that he will not go inside the temple for delivering the order, because it is the area where offerings of sweets and Kachori are prepared each day for god.’
A Customer care representative, Anubhav said, ‘he is not doing anything wrong, but it’s a policy that food has to be delivered at door step.
Sachin also stated, ‘he is not an “adharmi” he will not be going inside to deliver orders.’
On Tuesday, Sachin was felicitated by the board of the Marghat Hanuman mandir for ‘upholding’ the religious sanctity of the holy shrine.
