At 3.30 p.m., the Hindu spiritual guru passed away in Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh’s Shridham Jhoteshwar Ashram District.

On the grounds of his ashram in the Madhya Pradesh district of Narsinghpur, he was put to rest on Monday with official honors. Thousands of seers and devotees from throughout the nation attended Swami Swaroopanand’s “bhoo samadhi” on the Paramhansi Ganga Ashram grounds.

What Was Swaroopanand Saraswati?
Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was a well-known Indian religious leader. He has been in the news because he died recently.
His real name was Pothiram Upadhyay. He was born on 2 September 1924 in Seoni, Central Provinces and Berar (present time Madhya Pradesh), British India.
His Guru Brahmananda declared him a Dandi Sannyasi in 1950. He was a direct pupil of Shankaracharya Brahmananda Saraswati of Jyotir Math (1941โ1953) and of Shankaracharya (dubious) Krishnabodha Ashrama of Jyotir Math (1953โ1973).
He passed away at Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, India, on September 11, 2022. He was 98 years old when he passed away.
His Career
The Akhil Bharatiya Ram Rajya Parishad, which Swami Karpatri founded, elected Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati as its president. After Swami Krishnabodha Ashrama’s passing in 1973, Swami Swaroopanand assumed the disputed position of Shankaracharya at Jyotir Math, Badrinath.
Later, in 1982, he was appointed the Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth. In the 1950s, he was a leader of the anti-Congress movement. He presided over Ram Rajya Parishad as president. In connection with the fight to outlaw cow slaughter, he was imprisoned three times between 1954 and 1970.
In many regions of India, he established ashrams that were actively engaged in converting Christians back to Hinduism. He also participated in the freedom struggle and had close links to the Congress party.
