Sushil Kumar Arrested: Delhi Police Arrests On The Run Wrestler Sushil Kumar

Sushil Kumar Arrested: The erstwhile Olympian medal winner was absconding since last month after being involved in a murder case

Across the last course of the month, Sushil Kumar had managed to successfully hoodwink the Delhi Police. Involved in the murder of 23 year old wrestler Sagar Rana at the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi, Sushil had been on the run ever since.

In a bid to nab him, the Delhi Police had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the Haryana based wrestler along with announcing a Rs.1 lakh prize money leading to his arrest. The Delhi Police had also upped the ante of raiding locations with a bevy of places being scoured in Haryana and Punjab.

The police’s unnerving efforts to catch Sushil Kumar have finally paid off. The wrestler’s effort to evade arrest have finally been proved futile with the wrestler being caught in the capital by the Delhi Police today.

Sushil’s aide, Ajay has been arrested as well. The police had issued warrants against both Sushil and Ajay along with five others after a fracas between two groups has resulted in Sagar Rana being murdered and his friends Sonu and Amit Kumar being injured.

Sushil’s appeal for anticipatory bail had been previously clobbered down on with the judge finding enough evidence to allude towards Sushil’s involvement in the crime.

“The allegations against the accused are serious in nature. From the perusal of record of investigation so far, it reveals that prima facie the accused is the main conspirator,” the judge had noted as he denied Sushil’s bail appeal.

The first breakthrough in nabbing Sushil was made by the Delhi Police a couple of days back when pictures of Sushil were captured in Meerut from where it was being speculated that he was trying to escape to Uttarakhand. However, Sushil’s last known location was captured to be in Punjab, ensuing which the Delhi Police ransacked a slew of Northern states.

Things are set to only further worsen for the wrestler with the Delhi Police set to ask for his custody from the court. And given the shenanigans Sushil has engaged in till date, a verdict in his favour looks extremely improbable.
