Kansas City head coach Andy Reid who previously coached the Eagles from 1999-2012, will be looking to win his second Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs
Ahead of the final game, the Chiefs finished with a 14-3 record in the regular season. They beat past the Bengals 23-20 in the AFC championship game. The Chiefs will be looking to make their fifth Super Bowl appearance and their third across the last four seasons.
Patrick Mahomes III, who is a strong candidate to win his second NFL MVP award this season recently played through a high-ankle sprain. Meanwhile, Tight end Travis Kelce also played through while suffering back spasms. The two primary playmakers for the Chiefs will however get two weeks of rest. They are supported by a strong defense led by Chris Jones.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles on the other hand also finished with 14-3 record in the regular season. They reached the Super Bowl after winning past San Francisco 31-7 in the NFC championship game. The Eagles are making their fourth Super Bowl appearance.
Second-year coach Nick Sirianni will now have the chance to lead his side to their second Super Bowl championship. Jalen Hurts, who previously suffered a shoulder injury in Week 15, managed to rush three TDs in two playoff victories. The Eagles also have a balanced offense with Hassan Reddick, averaging 3.5 sacks in the postseason. Hassan totaled 70 sacks during the regular season.

Super Bowl 2023 picks
Ahead of the game, two of the Eagles’ main players Hurts and Mahomes, will get to rest for a week. This should play to their advantage especially Hurts, whose running ability has played a huge part in the team’s offense.
The Eagles had a +8 in turnover ratio during the regular season, while they had +4 with no turnovers during the playoffs. If Hurts manages to buy some time and bring a strong running game, the Eagles will certainly be in good shape.
Mahomes on the other hand still has his ankle to worry. However, in the game against the Bengals, he had 326 passing yards and 2 TDs against despite limited mobility.
Kansas City will also be looking to bring their running game with their two speedsters Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco. The key factor comes down to whether or not Mahomes’ mobility will improve over the week.
Both teams are highly-creative offensive teams with MVP-caliber playmakers. This means that the key stat for fans to watch in huge games will be third-down conversion percentage. Kansas City had a 48.8% while Philadelphia had 47.5% and the two were ranked second and third respectively during the regular season.
The game seems to tilt a little in favour of the Chiefs ahead of kickoff. However, Mahomes’ fitness will remain the focal point as it will determine the quality of the Eagles’ running game.
