In 2011, Sunil Narine made his international debut, playing for the West Indies in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and later in Test cricket.
His international career took off, and in 2012, he played a pivotal role in helping the West Indies secure their first World T20 title since 1979. His crafty off-spin bowling and variations in the shortest format of the game made him a valuable asset.
Narine’s success wasn’t limited to international cricket. He has been a cornerstone of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2012.
He was instrumental in KKR’s two IPL title victories, taking over 20 wickets in both seasons. His ability to keep the opposition’s run rate in check, bowl dot balls, and take crucial wickets made him a force to be reckoned with.
He faced issues with the legitimacy of his bowling action, much like Saeed Ajmal and Muthiah Muralitharan. He had to work on his action with biomechanics experts and was even suspended at times.
Sunil Narine displayed his batting skills as well. He even opened the batting for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL) and other leagues. His pinch-hitting ability and fearless approach with the bat added another dimension to his cricketing resume.
He is married to Nandita Kumar, and they have a son named Silas. His Instagram handle, @sunilnarine24, offers glimpses into his life, both on and off the field, and has gained a significant following.
Sunil Narine’s net worth has steadily grown over the years. While the exact figure is not publicly disclosed, it is estimated to be around $15 million (approximately INR 117 crore). His income primarily comes from match fees, brand endorsements, and IPL contracts.
Sunil Narine has also ventured into brand endorsements, associating with notable names like FairPlay, Atlantic Sports, and Insignia Sports.
