As we all know, news of schools and colleges reopening drew a lot of interest as numerous states and UTs progressively eased COVID-19 restrictions. With the number of cases decreasing and vaccination rates improving, several locations have successfully resumed offline classes.

After two years of closure due to COVID-19, schools resumed in 2022. However, it appears that schools and colleges are now going back into that again due to several reasons and many states even announced early summer holidays. So, let’s find out more about it:

Reason Behind Early School Summer Vacations 2022

Given the intense weather that has seized the country and the cases of COVID-19 are gradually increasing, it appears that now is not the best moment for pupils to return to school and attend courses.

Due to the extreme heat, many state governments have begun to announce the dates for summer holidays for schools and institutions. To make up for a lost time, the summer vacations have been shortened this year.

List Of States And Union Territories Who Declared Early Summer Holidays

  1. West Bengal

The West Bengal government announced on Wednesday that all public and private schools in the state will close on May 2 for the summer holiday. The decision was made due to the growing temperature in the state, according to the state administration. On Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heatwave warning for numerous West Bengal districts from April 25 to 28 and advised citizens to avoid extended heat exposure.

2. Uttar Pradesh

This year’s summer holidays in UP schools will begin on May 21 and go till June 30. This implies that in 2022, students in the state will get 51 days of summer vacation.

3. Maharashtra

Maharashtra schools will be closed from May 2 to June 12 for the summer holidays in 2022. Classes 1 through 9 and 11 will be closed. Apart from Vidarbha, where schools will reopen on June 27, the remaining of Maharashtra’s academic term will begin on June 13.

4. Madhya Pradesh

Although the whole of Madhya Pradesh didn’t do this, the majority of Bhopal schools have opted to close their doors on April 29, without the state’s permission.

5. Andhra Pradesh

This year, the state’s kids will have summer vacation from May 6 to July 4.

6. Puducherry

Beginning April 30, all Puducherry schools will be closed for the summer holidays for classes 1 to 9.

7. Chhattisgarh

The school education department of the state has declared that this year’s summer vacation would begin on April 24 and finish on June 14.

8. Odisha

This year’s summer holidays in Odisha have been shortened by 35 days and will take place from June 6 to June 16. A five-day suspension of school for all students has been declared from April 26 to April 30 due to the state’s current heatwave.
