In the year 2016, at Asian Paralympic Badminton Championships held in Beijing, China he became one of the first Indian bureaucrats to achieve a professional International Badminton Championship. Suhas bagged a gold medal by defeating Hary Susanto from Indonesia in the final match when Suhas was on duty as the District Magistrate of the Azamgarh.
