The long-awaited debut of Skateboarding at the Olympics was witnessed by folks around the world. The energy at the Street Skateboarding Finals at Tokyo Olympics were positive & filled with joy. 1st Ever Olympic Champion of the Men’s Street Skateboarding Event

Japan’s Yuto Horigome was crowned champion of the inaugural Men’s Street event at the Games, he bagged skateboarding’s 1st gold medal at the biggest sporting event.

Highest Score in Men’s Street Final

Horigome was the only skater in the Men’s Street Final to score all nines in his tricks that were counted with 9.50 being the highest score in the final.

First Podium Ever in Men’s Street Competition at Olympics

At 22, the Tokyo-born gold medalist Yuto alongside Brazil’s silver medal winner Kelvin Hoefler, and third placed American skateboarder Jagger Eaton registered history as the trio stood on the 1st Olympic podium in men’s street skateboarding.

Women’s Street Skateboarding – 1st Ever Winner – at the Olympics

From Japan – Momiji Nishiya, 13, is the first skateboarder to win an Olympic gold medal at the women’s street competition held in Tokyo.

Japan’s Youngest-Ever Olympic Gold Medalist

Momiji Nishiya broke a historic record and is now Japan’s youngest ever gold medalist (13 years and 330 days), and one of the youngest in the history of the Olympic Games.

The Youngest Podium Ever in the Olympic History

With Nishiya (13), two other skateboarders; another 13-year-old – Rayssa Leal from Brazil is the silver medalist and Japan’s Funa Nakayama, age 16, won the bronze medal in the final of women’s street event and stood atop at the youngest podium in Olympic history.

They also completed the First Olympic Podium in the women’s street skateboarding as the sport made its debut during the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

Brazil’s Youngest Olympic Medalist

The Brazilian teenager, Rayssa Leal secured the second spot with a total score of 14.64 and became her country’s youngest Olympic medalist ever.

Youngest Medalist at Games Since 1928

When Leal (13 years 204 days) stood at the podium with a silver medal around her neck, she became the youngest medalist at the Summer Games since 1928.

USA’s First Skateboarding Medal at Olympics

The only American Skateboarder on the list of Olympic medallists at the Street Competition – is the 20-year-old Arizona resident, Jagger Eaton who took the bronze medal in the men’s street final with 35.35 total points.

Double For Brazil

Brazil had double celebrations as its two Skateboarders won Silver, at Street Skateboarding Olympic debut. At 28, Kelvin Hoefler won Brazil its 1st Olympic Skateboarding medal in the men’s street final with 36.15 points. Followed by Rayssa Leal, the next day as she finished in 2nd spot in style and set few records along the way.

Dominance by Host Nation Japan

Japan’s dominance was evident over the two-day Street Skateboarding events as it bagged 3 out 6 medals – 2 Gold Medals and 1 Bronze Medal. As Yuto Horigome and Momiji Nishiya won gold with total points of 37.18 and 15.26 respectively and Funa Nakayama finished third with 14.49.
