At the upcoming 2023 Street League Skateboarding (SLS) event in Tokyo, Chicago event winner Kelvin Hoefler is the overwhelming favorite but, experts believe that Olympic gold medalist Horigome Yuto and the reigning Super Crown champ Ribeiro will prove worthy challengers for the Olympic silver medalist.

2023 Street League Skateboarding schedule, date, venue, & medal favorites
After break of approximately four months, the 2023 Street League Skateboarding (SLS) Championship Tour will resume on 12th August. Olympic medalists Rayssa Leal and Kelvin Hoefler will strive to build on their triumphs from the first event in Chicago, while Gustavo Ribeiro, the defending men’s SLS Super Crown champion, will be anxious to show that he simply had a bad day in the opening event, where he ended in sixth place. As per schedule, this upcoming event will be hosted in Japanese capital Tokyo.
This year’s competition has a brand-new one-day competition structure that includes a knockout stage for the men’s athletes and in this format, competitors arranged into four groups of five. From each group, the skater with the highest score will qualify for the final and they will be joined by Chicago event winner Kelvin Hoefler in the final. Meanwhile, Chicago event’s top-three women’s athletes Leal, Nishiya Momiji, & Roos Zwetsloot have qualified for the final. It is confirmed that the other three finalists for this category will be determined through a knockout round featuring six competitors.

It is confirmed that all action from this prestigious 2023 Street League Skateboarding event will be streamed live through Rumble platform. Notably, this event is the second stop of the 2023 Street League Skateboarding: Championship Tour and precedes the Sydney event on 7th October. Ultimately, this tour will culminate with the Super Crown Final.
