Steve Sostak, who was a member of the Chicago-based indie and experimental bands Sweep The Leg Johnny, Check Engine, and ZZZZ, passed away at 49, know his cause of death

According to the artist’s page on Facebook, Sostak was born in Chicago but was currently residing in Beijing. However, the performer was from Chicago by origin. In the midst of Sostak’s meteoric rise in the music industry, he enrolled at the University of Notre Dame.

Where he was introduced to guitarist Chris Daly for the first time. Between 1993 and 1994, they were both featured in the magazine Check Engine. After some time, they shifted their lives and moved to Chicago. Where they established Sweep The Leg Johnny with the assistance of drummer Scott Anna and bassist Matt Alicea.
John Brady of Sostak and Swing Kids, Greg Sharp of Tekulvi, and Ellen Bunch, an electric pianist, formed ZZZZ following the dissolution of Sweep the Leg Johnny.

After leaving ZZZZ, Sostak went on to teach at universities. In Chicago, Lima, Kuala Lumpur, and Beijing during the next 14 years. There, Sostak helped educators and students ignite their passions for community building and issue solving in an increasingly complex world by coaching various learners through the process of producing media and global impact initiatives.
As a way to pay tribute to his fellow musician, bassist John Brady uploaded an old performance video of Sweep The Leg Johnny from their 2011 show at The Verge in London. Fans sent in condolences to Steve Sostak. They spoke about the beautiful music that Steve Sostak created during his lifetime.
Steve and his wife, Angie, are parents to three daughters and their biological daughter, Lucia Belle, was born in 2008, three months after adopting their two Peruvian daughters, Jessica Rocio and Maria Fatima. The latter were aged 15 and 5, respectively. Steve’s cause of death isn’t known as of yet. His net worth stood at $2 million.
