Steve Lemke was caught cheating on his wife and head coach Amber Lemke with a student
The assistant bowling coach at Stephen F. Austin State University resigned rather than risking being humiliated and dismissed after being found having an affair with a student-athlete. The strange part is that his wife is the head coach.

Steve Lemke, an assistant bowling coach at Stephen F. Austin State University, resigned rather than face termination this spring when it was revealed he had an affair with a student-athlete. Lemke, 38, who is married to the team’s head coach Amber Lemke, announced his resignation from the programme on April 10 after guiding it to two national championships and two runner-up results.
The SFA athletic director, Ryan Ivey, stated that “he is not currently employed here.” He had an option, according to the department, and he decided to quit. The athlete, who was a bowling team member, will not be named. Even though the connection, according to Steve Lemke, was consensual but when it comes to the institution and a coach or instructor being with a student-athlete, it’s more of an ethical issue.
This is one of the craziest stories I’ve ever read.

And his quotes are *wild*, why would you say any of that out loud?https://t.co/mf9AwaCV0N pic.twitter.com/4ov3Bsfta2

Steve and Amber have filed for a divorce.
Moreover, Women’s bowling is the only sport at SFA to achieve national success since the school moved up to NCAA Division I. In 2016 and 2019, the bowling team won the NCAA championship. The bowlers came in second place in 2015 and 2022.
State law does not forbid staff and students from having consensual sexual relationships while they are in college, but many colleges have rules in place that do just that. When Amber Lemke noticed a text message from the bowler on Steve Lemke’s phone, she learned about the relationship. Despite being two consenting adults, Lemke and the athlete broke the university’s relationship policies. According to court documents, Steve and Amber Lemke have filed for divorce since then.
Amber will be back as head coach.
The bowling programme at SFA began in 2009. Prior to his official hiring as an assistant coach on September 1, 2019, Steve Lemke worked as a volunteer assistant to Amber Lemke throughout the 2011–12 academic year. Due to state nepotism regulations, he was directly responsible to Loree McCary, associate athletic director for administration.
The head coach, Amber Lemke, will be back. However, the athlete who had an affair with Steve Lemke is ineligible and won’t be joining the squad again.
