This month, a 3-point shootout between the youthful Ionescu and arguably the best three-point shooter in NBA history is scheduled.

The biggest announcement regarding the Indianapolis All-Star Weekend is probably that Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu will take place. The two stars will participate in the inaugural NBA vs. WNBA three-point shootout in addition to the other All-Star weekend events, which include the celebrity game, dunk contest, and G League Up Next Game.

The shooter for the Golden State Warriors is now making more than 40% of his field goals from distance, and Sabrina is making more than 44% of her three-point attempts. Both in 2015 and 2021, Curry emerged victorious in the NBA’s 3-point competition, while in the WNBA tournament final last year, Ionescu broke a record by scoring 37 points.

When will the event take place?

Following the KIA Skills Challenge and the Starry 3-Point Contest, the event will be place on Saturday, February 17 at 8 p.m. ET or 06:30 am IST (next day) at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFLโ€™s Indianapolis Colts.

Fans have questioned the format of the WNBA since players utilise smaller basketballs and shoot from a three-point line closer to the basket. The Steph Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu 3-point shootout will adhere to the competition’s usual rules.

A money ball good for two points will be added to each of the two players’ four racks of four balls. Similar to a traditional three-point shootout, a fifth rack of all-money balls will be positioned at a site selected by the participants. Two outstanding Starry Range shots for three points will also be awarded to each player.

What will be the prize money?

Curry and Lonescu’s designated charity will receive a portion of the competition’s earnings and prizes. While Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play will receive donation from NBA, Lonescu’s SI20 Foundation will receive from WNBA.

  • $1,000 for 3-pointer
  • $2,000 for every money ball
  • $3,000 for every Starry Range ball
