The release date and start time for Steam Winter Sale 2022 has been confirmed as December 22. SteamDB confirmed the above details and timings on their site.
Moreover, while the event takes place, game developers Valve will also be giving away a Steam Deck every single minute throughout the upcoming Game Awards 2022 show.
Besides Valve, Epic Games will also be holding its annual 15 days of free games extravaganza around mid-December. Fans will get the perfect chance to bag 15 great and mysterious freebies on PC during the event.
Lunar New Year Removed
Game American developers Valve have confirmed that the annual Lunar New Year will not feature this time on Steam. Valve have removed the Lunar New Year, which means that it won’t be happening anytime soon in 2023.
As such, the next Valve sale will probably begin during the Spring time, starting on March 16. Valve confirmed the following informations thorough one of their posts shared online.
Valve has given the following reason as to why they removed Lunar New Year from the Steam Winter Sale 2022:
Over the years we’ve received feedback that Lunar New Year was often much too close to the December holiday sale period. We think many publishers will still opt to discount games around the Lunar New Year holiday, using the custom discount tools.
As such, we can see that Valve have decided to remove the Lunar New Year keeping in mind the gamers. It has been removed so as to let gamers enjoy the Steam Winter Sale 2022 to the fullest.
