Sanju Samson is said to have been ruled out of the first ODI owing to a knee injury with his selection for the remainder encounters up in the air as well

Ahead of the first ODI between Sri Lanka and India, Indian supporters were ardently awaiting the announcement of the playing 11. It has now been reported that it was an injury issue which kept Sanju Samson sidelined from the match on Sunday. The Kerala based wicket-keeper is said to be on the injury bed currently with a knee injury.

While there’s been no update on the injury by the BCCI, reports have further gone onto state that Samson could end up missing the entire ODI and T20 series owing to his plight. It’s a massive setback for the starlet for whom this tour finally looked to be his chance to impress on the big stage and prove his mettle.

Sanju will now turn his attention to the IPL as he looks to repeat last year’s heroics for Rajasthan Royals. While his clean hitting ability is well documented, his inability to consistently pile on the runs has refrained him from making his place on the international stage.
