Sri Lanka Cricket To Earn Rs.89.7 Crore Money From Upcoming India vs Sri Lanka Series
The Lions are currently undergoing one of their toughest phases in recent times, when it comes to financial resources. Moreover, like so many others, COVID-19 has further hampered the earnings of the board as well. This financial crisis may be allayed through the money they make from this series with India and thus help it recover from this tough phase.
The president of Sri Lanka Cricket Shammi Silva revealed that initially The Lions only had three matches to play in the series. SLC then requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to include three more games. The motive behind this request was to ensure they could make the most from this high-profile series.
The Sri Lanka Cricket board thus, looks forward to invest the money earned from the series in building a strong economy through sports, as visualized by the nation’s Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
Shammi Silva also talked about the losses faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the board didn’t cut the salaries or allowances of the Lankan players. This was despite missing out on several tours and series. “None of their facilities were deducted either. In the face of this situation, the cricketers should give out their best display to the country,” he said.
