She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in July 2016. She was the first Indian to win the British Junior Squash Championship title in year 2005, under-19 category and was also considered as one of the youngest Indian women’s national champion.

Joshna Chinappa is presently the record-holder of most national championship wins, with 18 titles. Her father Anjan Chinappa runs a coffee plantation at Coorg. Her great granduncle, Mr. K.M. Cariappa, who was the first commander in chief of the Indian Army of independent India, grandfather and father were all squash players.
Her current ranking is world number 12, height stands at 173cm. She is currently single and unmarried.
In year 2000, Joshna began her professional career by winning her first junior and senior national championship titles. She became the youngest player to hold both titles at the age of 14 years. In year 2003, Joshna made history by winning the British Junior Open title in Under 17 category when she was 16 years old. In February, Joshna Chinappa clinched her 18th national title at 77th Senior National Championship.
At the Commonwealth Games of 2014, Joshna along with Dipika Pallikal Karthik, achieved the squash women’s doubles gold medal and India’s first-ever Commonwealth Games medal in that sport. The pair clinched a silver medal at the event’s Gold Coast edition 2018, losing to team New Zealand, Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy.
Joshna trains at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai. At the Women’s Asian Individual Squash Championships of year 2017, she settled for a gold medal, by becoming first Asian Squash Champion from India. In April of year 2018, Joshna Chinappa upset Nicol David in the second round, in the straight games of El Gouna World Series Event.
Recently in the World Doubles Championships, she got a Gold medal in 2022 Glasgow Doubles category.
