The Indians were behind 0-1 after dropping the opening round, but Saurav Ghoshal orchestrated a comeback before Abhay Singh won a best-of-five encounter by 3-2 in a nail-biter. The victory enabled India to prevail 2-1 in the best-of-three gold medal match.
Every time, Abhay took the initiative to turn the situation around. To force the decisive game, the 25-year-old overcame a 1-2 deficit against Noor in the best of three games. India scored four straight points thanks to Abhay’s valiant efforts, saving the match from certain defeat.
