About Harpal Singh Bedi
For the curious, Harpal Singh Bedi was born in 1952. He completed his early education in his native town and earned his M.A and M.Phil degree from the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
After completing his studies, he switched his career path to sports journalism. Bedi worked as a sports editor at the UNI (United News of India) and even worked as a consulting editor for the Statesman newspaper.

The deceased journalist’ awe-inspiring work that he had done in his career spanning over four decades includes ground reporting of 8 Olympic games, Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, World Cups of Cricket and Hockey.
Additionally, he also covered World and National Championships of athletics and other major Olympic sports.
Harpal Singh Bedi was considered as a father figure in Sports journalism among his friends and colleagues.
His fame even transcended borders as he became a popular Sports figure among Pakistani journalists when he toured the nation with Indian cricket team in 2004 and 2004.
The veteran journalist passed away at the age of 72 after protracted illness on Saturday morning in a hospital.
As per reports, his funeral was conducted at the Green park crematorium in front of family, colleagues and friends. The funeral ceremony was also attended by external affairs minister S Jaishankar.
