Just a few weeks after receiving his diagnosis, in November 2021, Gravalos underwent surgery for the tumour. It’s reported that the procedure went well, but he afterwards had to undergo a number of further operations.

After experiencing “strange sensations” for several days, the Spanish road racer complained of discomfort in his head during training in 2021. He underwent surgery in November of that year after the malignancy was later found. Although the procedure was effective, Gravalos needed more to attempt to completely remove the malignancy. And on Friday (May 19), 18 months later, he, unfortunately, passed away.

“He refused to give his sadness or regret a lasting foundation by keeping it to himself. He was all about constructing, supporting, complimenting, and thanking people and was equipped with a large smile, intimacy, and candour. Arturo, you will always be remembered. Peacefully rest.”
