With 253.80 points on Wednesday in the women’s 10m platform diving, 15-year-old Lee Yiat Qing won the gold medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. She carries on the winning trend started by her superstar diving countrywoman Pandelela Rinong, who has won five out of the last seven competitions in this event. With 242.20 points, Bui Thi Hong Giang of Vietnam won silver, and Gladies Lariesa Garina Haga of Indonesia took home the bronze.

The Filipina indoor volleyball team won their first match at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games by thrashing the hosts Cambodia 3-0 (25-3, 25-5, 25-5) on Tuesday, despite the absence of star performer Alyssa Valdez. After finishing in the dreaded fourth place at the previous three editions, Captain Valdez is anxious to lead her team to a first SEA Games medal in 18 years. Thailand, who has won 13 straight championships, won their opening match tonight, defeating Indonesia 3-0. Indonesia will be another team to keep an eye on, having finished second or third in the previous three Games.
