The sport is all set to play a big part of the Southeast Asian Games 2023, and will take place from May 5 to 17 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, featuring 24 medals.
Southeast Asian Games 2023 cricket format
The Southeast Asian Games 2023 will feature eight separate cricket events, four for both men and women. Players will get to play cricket across four different formats – 50 overs, T20, T10 and 6s (six-a-side).
The 20-over tournaments will guarantee full T20 International status and also offer ranking points. The cricket matches will begin on April 29 before the start of the official opening ceremony on May 5.
All the cricket matches in the upcoming 2023 SEA Games will take place at the AZ Group Cricket Oval in Phnom Penh. Back in the SEA Games in 2017 when cricket was first introduced, Singapore won the men’s T20 gold medal while Malaysia and Thailand won the men’s 50 overs and women’s T20 crowns, respectively.
