South San Bobcats assistant coach Dante Montoya has tragically passed away, after reports of his death emerged on Sunday, October 26. Several Facebook posts claimed that he passed away in an accident while returning to San Antonio, with the first post coming from alumni member John C. Garcia in the “Mighty South San Bobcats group”. Montoya was reportedly driving home after watching his son play at Texas A&M University–Kingsville when the accident took place.
Cause of death
According to online reports, Montoya allegedly died following a road accident, but as of now, there is no official confirmation from his family or the school authorities. Out of respect for the family, South San’s Head Coach Phil Barron urged users to refrain from sharing unverified information until an official statement is made. Despite this, condolences continued to flood social media as friends and former students shared memories of the late coach.

Dante Montoya biography and age
Dante Montoya was a native of San Antonio, Texas, and the defensive coordinator for the South San Antonio Bobcats. He attended East Central High School during his childhood, before graduating from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. After completing his education, he later returned to his hometown, where he took up the coaching position at South San Antonio High School.

Dante Montoya was married to Leslie Lovering Montoya. The couple tied the knot back in January 2021, but there is currently no information publicly available about their children however it is known that he had a son.
