The South African SA Sports Awards made their return after three long years, e take a look at the big winners from the award ceremony in 2022
The SA Sports Awards, held on March 12 at the Durban International Convention Centre, recognized South African sportsmen and authorities that excelled worldwide. The prizes were given out for the Covid-19 period, which ran from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2021.

Rugby had a fantastic night at the South African Sports Awards in Durban on Saturday, taking home five awards in the categories of Team, Coach, Player, Federation, and People’s Choice.
Springbok winger Makazole Mapimpi managed to grab Sportsman of the Year, Rassie Erasmus was named Coach of the Year, the Springboks were named Team of the Year, and Siya Kolisi was named People’s Choice Sports Star of the Year. Tatjana Schoenmaker was named Sportswoman of the Year and Sports Star of the Year. Along with Ntando Mahlangu and Bianca Buitendag, Schoenmaker was one of three Shield Of Jove prize winners.
Ronald Brown, a budding star for the Springbok Sevens, received a nomination for the Newcomer of the Year award, which was won by Mine de Klerk.

MVP of South Africa Sports Awards 2022
Tatjana Schoenmaker, the Olympic 200m breaststroke champion and world record holder, was the main winner at the South Africa Sports Awards gala on Saturday night, taking home the prestigious Sports Star and Sportswoman of the Year awards.
Schoenmaker, 24, who won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, outswam stiff competition in both events.
