Many people uploaded a video on social media that purportedly showed a leopard intoxicated. The viral video shows the leopard ambling gently through a woodland while hundreds of people stroll peacefully next to it, some of them even giving it back pats.
One user wrote, “Leopard got drunk and forgot he’s a leopard.”
Drunk leopard viral video
The leopard in the viral video has a neurological condition rather than being intoxicated. A quick reverse search of the viral video’s keyframes led us to a media report from August 30, 2023, that said this video was from Madhya Pradesh’s Iklera village.
The media source also shared another video of the incident shot from a different angle. In this video, people can be seen trying to ride the leopard.
Several news sources covered this occurrence in August 2023. Locals in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh reportedly witnessed a leopard wandering through the jungle close to the Kali Sindh river. After reporting it to the forest authorities, they went up to the animal brandishing sticks.
However, the sick leopard exhibited no aggressive behaviour. They then started to experiment with it as a result of this. Later, the forest department’s team arrived at the spot and rescued the leopard.
On August 29, 2023, the leopard was brought to Indore’s zoo. Upon examination, vets found it was feverish and having fits. It was also reportedly hungry and dehydrated.
Doctors at the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalay noticed it had a neurological issue that was allegedly impacting its memory when it was receiving treatment there. Dharmendra of India Today’s Dewas correspondent chatted with Dr. Uttam Yadav, the leopard’s physician. Canine distemper is a dangerous viral disease that Yadav said the leopard had.
It is evident from this that a drunk leopard is not depicted in the viral video.
