Sonali Phogat was married to Sanjay Phogat and they together have one daughter Yashodhra Phogat who is aged 13. She belonged to the family of farmers and she has 2 siblings one brother and one sister named Sudhesh Phogat. Sonali grew up in Haryana and her education was also carried out there. Phogat was 5ft 5in tall and her weight was 55 kgs.
Sonali Phogat’s television career began in year 2006 when she appeared as an anchor in the Haryanvi show which aired on Doordarshan. In the year 2016, her husband, Sanjay Phogat, died in mysterious circumstances at his farmhouse based in Hisar, India. In the year 2019, Sonali Phogat appeared in the web series- THE STORY OF BADMASHGARH.
She was the National Vice President of Mahila Morcha from BJP. Sonali worked for BJP in the tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh also. In year 2019, BJP gave her a ticket to contest the 2019 Haryana Assembly Elections from Adampur. Later on she received heavy criticism for her speech during a rally in the Balasmand Village of Adampur in Hisar on 8 October 2019.
At the end of her rally, Phogat asked people to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and said that those who were not chanting must be from Pakistan. Sonali Phogat later on also apologized for her statement.
On June 5th, 2020, a video went viral on social media platforms in which Phogat was seen beating an official with her slippers, allegedly over a comment he made. The incident happened when she went to Sultan Singh, a member of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, with a list of farmers’ complaints.
On 22nd August 2022, Sonali Phogat died due to a heart attack and this news has left all her fans in shock.
