The World Championship in 2022 is planned to begin in April, but the vital qualifying will take place first. The World Championship will be contested in Sheffield, United Kingdom, for the 46th year in a row, and it will be the 16th and final ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season.

The Snooker World Championship begins on April 16, 2022, and concludes on May 2, 2022. However, the 2022 Snooker World Championship Qualifiers will take place at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield from April 4 to 13.

Qualifiers Tournament Format And Rules
A week before the competition, the English Institute of Sport will organise a qualifying tournament for 128 players. That group will be reduced to only 16 players over the course of a week, with the victors joining the top 16 players in the snooker rankings in the first round draw.
Qualifying matches will be best-of-11 frames in the first, second, and third preliminary rounds, and best-of-19 frames in the fourth and final preliminary round. According to their rankings, the players will enter the qualifiers at different stages.

Hossain Vafaei, the victor of the Snooker Shoot Out, defeated Simon Lichtenberg 6–0 to advance to the last round of Snooker World Championship Qualifiers for the third time. Ali Carter, the runner-up in 2008 and 2012, overcame Gao Yang 6–4 with breaks of 82 and 137, while Stevens defeated Sam Craigie 6–1 and Yuan Sijun defeated Ryan Day 6–1. Joe Perry, the Welsh Open winner, was defeated 3–6 by Jackson Page, a 20-year-old Welsh player.
The 32 third-round winners will compete in the fourth and final round of qualifying. Eight best-of-19-frame matches will take place over two sessions each day, with the winners progressing to the Crucible main draw. The World Snooker Tour’s YouTube and Facebook accounts will broadcast it live and for free.
