With only 30 seconds left, Jack Lisowski was trailing Mark Allen 22-29, but he knocked in a long red and then potted blue, red, and black to snag the victory as the clock approached zero in the opening day’s most exciting finale. In a matchup between two competitors who had competed in six ranking events each, Ken Doherty defeated Stephen Maguire. Jackson Page defeated Barry Hawkins, the previous Shoot Out champion, while Adam Duffy eliminated Jimmy White.
By defeating Ng On Yee in the BetVictor Shoot Out’s opening round, Vladislav Gradinari—who turned 14 just three months ago—became the youngest competitor to win a televised match in a ranking tournament. Shaun Murphy defeated defending champion Hossein Vafaei in the opening round. Prior to Murphy’s break of 28 tying the game in the final two minutes, both players squandered opportunities.
