At the Pathum Thani Six Red World Championship, John Higgins blitzed to a 5-0 victory over Thai amateur Poramin Danjirakul in their winner-take-all match. On his approach to victory, Scotland’s four-time World Champion Higgins produced breaks of 62 & 71. As a result of his 5-1 victory over Doherty, Vafaei, who had already won all of his matches, takes first place in the group.
On his first ever appearance in this competition, World Champion Ronnie O’Sullivan got off to a good start by defeating Jimmy Robertson 5-3 in a thrilling match. Robertson displayed class by winning the following three frames, but O’Sullivan took the eighth to seal his 5-3 victory. In another match, Thai great James Wattana defeated English adolescent Stan Moody 5-1.
