Sir Robert Charlton CBE, an English professional football player, was an offensive midfielder, central midfielder, and left winger and was known as Bobby Charlton. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Ashington, Northumberland, England and died on October 21, 2023 at the age of 86. The football great measured 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) tall.
At a young age, Charlton began playing football. He made his Manchester United debut in 1956. Apart from winning three league titles, he was a part of Manchester United’s historic 1968 European Cup victory.

Charlton made his final appearance for United in 1973, leaving Old Trafford at the same time as his brother and fellow World Cup winner Jack ended his long association with rivals Leeds United and had a spell as manager of Preston North End where he made 38 appearances. Since 1984 he had served United as a director at the club.
