Sinquefield Cup Grand Chess Tour 2022 Day 7 Results & Updated Standings
The Sinquefield Cup Round 7 pairing that would have drawn the greatest attention was So vs Carlsen, but Magnus had already withdrew from the competition. Three players had a chance to close the 1-point deficit that Wesley had, but none of them were able to do it. The games were not precisely fast draws, but they were also not particularly thrilling. Three of the games virtually appeared destined to end in draws from the start, but Alireza Firouzja vs Dominguez match continued for more than an hour before both the players agreed to a draw.
During Round 8 matches, Firouzja vs So & Aronian vs Nepo will be crucial to the final rankings but the final game featuring Niemann vs Caruana will be the round’s highlight. The upcoming round on Saturday will also be 2022 Sinquefield Cup’s penultimate round and will begin at 11:00 AM PT.
