Sinquefield Cup Grand Chess Tour 2022 Day 6 Results & Updated Standings
Round six of the 2022 Sinquefield Cup had a busy day in which Alireza Firouzja was the first to record a full point on the scoreboard. In the end, fellow grandmasters Levon Aronian and Wesley So also secured victories. After scoring four points after six games, So has maintained his lead over Ian Nepomniachtchi, who is in second position with three points after five games.
After a day of rest, Round 6 of the Sinquefield Cup was played, giving the competitors time to consider the controversy surrounding Magnus Carlsen’s withdrawal. There was only one draw on Thursday after there were four in Round 5. Wesley So will receive a bye in Round 7, where he was supposed to play Magnus and if any of his three closest pursuers wins, his lead might be gone. With Mamedyarov vs Nepomniachtchi, Dominguez vs Firouzja, and Caruana vs Aronian, none of the challengers will find it easy to snatch lead of Wesley So.
