The Sinquefield Cup continues to be a crucial component of the Grand Chess Tour schedule being the only location that has ever been a part of every tour. Sinquefield Cup, which is yearly sponsored by the Saint Louis Chess Club in America’s chess capital Saint Louis, Missouri, maintains its history of a classic format and will wrap up the 2022 Grand Chess Tour. As the final leg on the tour, this will be the last chance for contestants to rack up points in hopes of winning the title of Grand Chess Tour overall champion.
2022 Sinquefield Cup consists a star-studded lineup including reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen and youngster Alireza Firouzja along with other stars like Ian Nepomnitachi. Players will face each other once during the tournament in a round-robin format and after the completion of nine rounds, the player with highest points will claim the title of Sinquefield Cup.

Sinquefield Cup Grand Chess Tour 2022 Day 2 Results & Updated Standings
The games in round two of the 2022 Sinquefield Cup produced some surprising results including a draw for reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen. Carlsen, the only victor of round one, performed a respectable draw in second round, which allowed American GM Hans Niemann to catch him by winning an exciting match against GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. GM Fabiano Caruana, who was in a winning position but had to settle for a draw, was almost there as well.
In other games, Alireza Firouzja lost against Ian Nepomnitachi and currently sits at the bottom of the player standing with only 0.5 points after two round of matches. Alongside Firouzja, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov also sits at the last place with same amount of points. In Round 3, the top two players will square off, with Magnus Carlsen playing Hans Niemann. During third round, Alireza Firouzja will clash against Levon Aronion while Wesley So will take on fellow compatriot Fabiano Caruana.
