Vani Jairam career, songs, and education
At the age of 8 years, Vani Jairam gave her first live performance at All India Radio in Madras. Vani Jairam was a student of Queen Mary’s College at Madras University. Post her studies, Vani got employed with the State Bank of India, Madras, and later in year 1967, she was transferred to the Hyderabad branch.
After her marriage to the Jairam in early 1969, she further shifted to Mumbai for setting up her family. Upon her request, she was transferred to the Mumbai branch of her bank. She also sang with the veteran vocalist of Agra charan Pt. Dinkar Kaikini in a movie named “Meera”. The music to this song was given by none other than Pt. Ravi Shankar.
Vani had won a National Film Award for the Best Female Playback Singer three times and also won State Government awards from the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat
Vani Jairam’s family and death
Vani Jairam got married to a family which supported music. Her mother-in-law was Padma Swaminathan, a social activist and Carnatic music singer. She was the last surviving daughter of F. G. Natesa Iyer and N. Rajam was her sister-in-law. Vani died following a fall on the 4th of February in 2023, at the age of 77 years 2023. Vani’s body was found in her Chennai residence where she used to live alone after the demise of her husband TS Jayaram.
According to ANI, the Thousand Lights Police stated that the reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained but a case has now been registered in her death.
