Badminton player from Singapore, Loh Kean Yew will be practicing with Viktor Axelsen ahead of the India Open 2022
Winning the bygone BWF World Championships, Singapore’s badminton player Loh Kean Yew showed why he’s touted as one of the players to keep an eye out for the future. Defeating India’s Kidambi Srikanth in the showpiece summit clash, Yew won his first ever world championships, a win which saw him punch above his weight.

His triumph has seen him become the talk of the town of the badminton world as tournaments wrap up for 2021. And even further resplendent good news has now come in Yew’s way with him set to train with Denmark’s world number 1 Olympics champions Viktor Axelsen ahead of the India Open Super 500 event in January of 2022.
This is the second time Yew will be under Axelsen’s tutelage with him having previously practiced with the player earlier this year in the aftermath of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) confirmed on Monday that the two will one again move in unison as the country vies to provide Yew with the best facilities ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
SBA technical director Martin Andrew told The Straits Times: “Kean Yew will travel to train with Viktor and others in Dubai prior to the tournaments in India in January, and he may also return to Dubai after those events for another couple of weeks.
“Kean Yew’s shot consistency has improved significantly, and we want him to play with less errors while maintaining the risk level.”
Yew won 23 of his 30 games in 2021 to see him usher in three titles to his name.
