The Singapore Open badminton tournament has been cancelled. This prestigious badminton tournament was due from the 1st of June 2021 to the 6th June. The Singapore Badminton Association, which were the organizers for this event along with the Badminton World Federation announced this event as a cancelled one.

Also, this event is cancelled not postponed so there are no chances of it getting rescheduled. This event got cancelled by considering the ongoing pandemic in the entire world. A lot of preparations were being affected, most importantly the inbound travel of the players as well as the organizers. To avoid any kind of health issues to everyone, this event was called off.


The SBA and BWF also added to their statement that these two organizations tried their level best to provide a healthy and safe environment to all the players as well as spectators but because of the rising coronavirus cases it seemed next to impossible. This cancellation was mandatory because the health and safety of the community is the priority.

The Singapore Open Badminton Tournament was probably the last hope for badminton players to score and make their place in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics so cancellation of this event is being regarded as injustice by all such players.


Why Was The Singapore Open Cancelled?

The last year’s instalment of the Singapore Open Badminton Tournament also got cancelled because of the corona pandemic in the world and the same instance took place in 2021 as well. Also, the Malaysian Open which was scheduled for the 25th of May got postponed so this year we all won’t be able to witness any badminton event soon.
