Sika Anoa’I passes away

WWE Hall of Famer and former wrestler, Sika Anoa’I, has sadly passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. His nephew Jahrus Anoa’I, shared the tragic news on Tuesday via an Instagram post. While making the announcement, Jahrus Anoa’i added that Sika was a multifaceted personality and a devoted father. He was also a very supportive uncle, and a cherished friend who touched many lives. Jahrus also highlighted Sika’s significant contributions to professional wrestling.

As of now, Sika Anoa’I’s family has not revealed any apparent cause of death.

Sika Anoa’I bio

Leati Sika Amituana’i Anoaʻi, more popularly known as Sika, was an American Samoan professional wrestler who was born on April 5, 1945, in Leone, American Samoa. He recently passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the age of 79 years. He was the son of Amituana’i Anoa’i, and Tovale Anoa’i. Sika was best known as one-half of the tag team the Wild Samoans alongside his brother and fellow wrestler Afa.

Sika Anoa’I stood at a height of 1.88 m and roughly weighed around 145 kg

Wife and children

Sika was married to his wife Patricia A. Hooker, and had two children together named Roman Reigns and Rosey. Roman followed in his father’s footsteps and also became a professional wrestler competing in the WWE.

He is survived by his wife Patricia and four children. Two of his daughters are named Vanessa Anoa’i (1975) and Myritza Anoa’i Flowers (1981).

Sika had two sons, Matthew and Leati Joseph. Matt is a wrestler, who wrestled in WWE under the name “Rosey” and now works out of All Japan Pro Wrestling. Leati Jr., who goes by the nickname, Joe, played college football for Georgia Tech from 2003-2006 and now works in WWE under the name Roman Reigns. He and his brother Afa are related to boxer David Tua.

Wrestling career

Sika Anoa’i was a renowned and legendary wrestler who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2007. Sika had a successful career in WWF (now WWE) alongside his brother Afa Anoa’i. The pair were a tag-team duo who went by the name the Wild Samoans, and wrestled across various wrestling promotions starting from the 1970s.

During their time in the WWF, the wrestlers captured the World Tag Team Championship on three occasions. Sika and his brother had a strong impact even beyond the ring and his influence continued through his family. In particular, his son Roman Reigns, has become a major figure in the world of WWE today.

The concept of “The Bloodline,” which Roman Reigns has implored as a central narrative in WWE since 2020, has its origins to Sika and Afa. Aside from wrestling, Sika Anoa’I also co-founded “The Wild Samoan Training Facility” with Afa. There, the pair mentored and shaped the careers of future WWE superstars, including WWE superstar Batista.
