India’s young gun and one of the most promising young batsmen in the world, Shubman Gill has sustained a shin injury.
Gill will be out for 8 weeks and will miss the upcoming test series against England.
The Indian cricket team received a big blow before the 5-match test series against England as Indian opener Shubman Gill will be out of action for 8 weeks due to injury. Gill has been an important part of the Indian Test team in his very short career of 8 test matches.
Gill was part of the team which triumphed in Australia earlier this year to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy battling against all the odds. Gill scored a brilliant 91 in the second innings of the last Test at the Gabba. He took the attack to the Aussies by his aggressive batting.
Although Gill has been out of form since then as he failed to play any good knock in the home series against England and didn’t performed in the recently concluded World Test Championship Final.
Shubman Gill Injury Ahead Of England vs India 2021 Test Series
According to the reports, the young Indian batsman sustained a shin injury after the inaugural World Test Championship Final against New Zealand. The 21-year old is said to be out for 8 weeks before he is completely fit and set to be back in action. Shubman is ruled out of the upcoming test series against England which is set to start from 4th August 2021 at Nottingham.
Gill will surely feel unlucky as this series was a golden opportunity for the youngster to have justified the faith the team management is showing towards him after his string of poor performances.
Who will be Gill’s Replacement?
One question which arises in every fan’s mind is that who will replace Shubman Gill for the 5-match test series against England? Gill is a very promising young talent and could’ve been very important for the Indian test side.
KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are the two top contenders for replacing Shubman Gill. Mayank did well in whatever chances he got in the home tests last year but failed to perform in the series against Australia earlier this year.
KL Rahul on the other hand has been out of the test team for some time now and will be looking to grab this opportunity with both hands. Another outside chance is that Hanuma Vihari can open alongside Rohit Sharma.
