The 46-year-old from Uttar Pradesh shot 37 in the 40-shot final to finish ahead of Minsu Kim from Korea (36), who took second place, and Ben Llewellin from Britain (26), who took third place.
The shooter qualified over two days with a score of 119/125 before winning his first individual gold in a five-way shoot-off.

Who Is Mairaj Ahmad Khan?
Mairaj Ahmad Khan is a renowned-shotgun skeet shooter from India who has recently been in the news after he clinched the gold medal in men’s skeet at the ISSF world competition.
He was born on November 2nd, 1975 in Khurja, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh. He follows the Sunni sect of Islam.
His father’s name is Late Ilyas Ahmad Khan, and his mother’s name is Farrukh Ilyas. He also has three siblings, including one sister and two brothers. His sister’s name is Farheen Ilyas Khan, and his brothers’ names are Najam Khan and Siraj Khan.
He attended the Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi. He is a postgraduate.
Mairaj Ahmad Khan is presently married to Zarah Ali Khan.
He is 175 cm tall and weighs 81 kg. He is currently 46 years old.
His career
Mairaj Ahmad Khan has won several national and international competitions thanks to his diligent training. In September 2015, he qualified as the first Indian for the Shotgun Skeet Competition in Lonato, Italy.
He received a quota for the Rio Olympics in the shotgun skeet event in the same year he earned a silver medal at the 2016 ISSF World Cup Championship. He was the first Indian to compete in the shooting event SK125 at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
Mairaj Ahmad Khan is currently ranked 10th in the world and 6th in Asia. He has competed at the highest level of international shooting for more than 15 years and has received numerous awards, including medals from the Commonwealth Shooting Championship, the Asian Championships, the South Asian Federation, and various national and international competitions.
His non-profit organisation, “MAK Shooting Foundation,” strives to teach aspiring shooters. He is also nearing completion on “Hard Target,” his autobiography.
