Israeli troops shot Abu Aqleh, 51, deliberately and “in cold blood” when she was documenting disturbances in the Jenin refugee camp, according to the Qatar-based TV channel.

Who Was Shireen Abu?
Shireen Abu Akleh was a Palestinian-American journalist who spent 25 years working for Al Jazeera’s Arabic-language programme and a Muslim by religion. Her decades of reporting in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories made her a household figure across the Middle East. She was born on May 3rd, 1971 in Jerusalem.
She was 51 years old at the time of her death. She died during a raid on a Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.
Shireen Abu Akleh completed her education at Beit Hanina, then went on to study architecture at Jordan University of Science and Technology, and subsequently at Yarmouk University in Jordan, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in print journalism.
Her marital status is married, although the identity of her spouse is unknown.
She was named the Media Personality of the year at Dubai Press Club in 2001. She was also presented with the medal by the Libyan President for showing courage while doing coverage of the second Palestinian Intifada.

Shireen started her career as a reporter for Radio Monte Carlo and Voice of Palestine. She also worked for UNRWA, Amman Satellite Channel, and MIFTAH, among other organisations.
Her significant work at Al Jazeera, where she started as a journalist in 1997 and became noted for her reporting style on important countable events relating to Palestine, including coverage of the Second Intifada and Israeli politics, garnered her attention.
Her most well-known stories have been about funerals for Palestinians murdered by Israeli soldiers.

Funeral Of Shireen Abu
A state funeral for deceased Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is set to take place in Ramallah, Palestine, the day after she was allegedly assassinated by Israeli soldiers.
On Thursday morning, Abu Akleh’s body was transported from the Istishari Hospital in Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) presidential compound, where President Mahmoud Abbas honoured her and bid her farewell.
The burial of Abu Akleh is scheduled on Friday in occupied East Jerusalem.
