The vendors were really upset because they expected a lot of tourists at the festival, but bad weather on the first day ruined everything. Jaya, who owns a traditional stall was disappointed but hopeful for better weather in the next two days to boost her sales. P Myrsing, another local business owner, was surprised by the unexpected weather and worried about IMD’s forecast for more rain on Saturday.
Stall owners were unhappy with the event planners for not communicating well and canceling the event abruptly. They felt the organizers lacked professionalism in handling an international event. Even though they understood the government couldn’t control the weather, they wished for better stalls and communication to minimize losses.
Some regional acts that missed Friday’s performance were moved to the Me’Gong Festival, and the main concerts were rescheduled for November 18 and 19.

It’s worth mentioning that last year, the Cherry Blossom Festival was canceled last minute due to a police incident involving Meghalaya villagers.
The event was meant to bring in visitors from both within the country and from other parts of the world. Despite months of getting ready and planning, it turned into a disaster for excited guests and stall owners.
