Neil Nongkynrih was the chief mentor of the Shilong Chamber Choir and has done several collaborations with Indiaโs top-notch singers. This Padma Shri was awarded a recently passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra at the age of 51 on January 5th, 2022.

Neil Nongkynrih hails from Langsning, Assam, and was born in the year 1970 on the 9th of July. He is the proud founder of the Shilong Chamber Choir. He was said to be single and not married.
He was born and raised in a Khasi family, his father was a State Minister of the state of Meghalaya. Neilโs introduction to the world of arts by his grand aunt. His sister Pauline has been his greatest teacher and initially, he used to take all his music lessons from her only. Her sister was a practitioner of Jazz music.
He suffered from a long time illness and had underwent a surgery for it, ensuing which he passed away.

Neilโs comeback in India as a pianist was marked in the year 2001 in Shilong, the Shilong Chamber Choir was also founded in the same year. He is a master at various music genres like pop, Bollywood, Indian classical, and a lot more.
In the year 2010, this amazing Choir won the popular Indian show named Indiaโs Got Talent. Apart from working with so many popular people and achieving so much, he has done a lot for numerous social causes.
Neil Nongkynrih has been a recipient of the fourth highest civilian award that is the Padma Shri. In 2010-11 Forbes regarded him as the person of the year.
