First Flight to take off for Pilgrimage
Marking the beginning of this year’s Hajj Pilgrims from India, the first flight under the Kerala State Haj Committee will take off from Nedumbassery on Saturday.
According to reports, Minister V Abdurahiman will flag off the first flight. The first flight to Hajj will have 377 passengers on board.
Previously, Haj Pilgrims were conducted with lots of restrictions due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021 respectively. As foreigners weren’t allowed in Hajj at that time, so there weren’t any Haj Pilgrims from India during 2020 and 2021.
This year, a total of 7,747 pilgrims including 5,758 pilgrims from Kerala, 1,989 from Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Puducherry, will take off from Nedumbassery to Hajj Pilgrimage.
20 flights of Saudi Airlines have already been scheduled from June 4 to 16 for the Haj Pilgrimages.
According to the schedule, each flight has been reserved for the Haj pilgrims on June 4, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 15 with two flights on June 5, 8, 10 and 14 and three flight services on June 12 and 16.
The accommodations for the visitors will be arranged near Al-Masjid-an-Nabawi in Medina and near Azizia in Mecca. The return of pilgrims is also scheduled to Nedumbassery taking flight from Jeddah airport.
