Know the purse, payouts and salaries of Shakur Stevenson vs Oscar Valdez
With a dominant decision victory at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Shakur Stevenson defeated the undefeated Oscar Valdez and became the unified super featherweight title.
As he made his way to the ring with rapper Da Baby, Stevenson headed into hostile territory, with a heavily pro-Valdez audience of 10,102 people jeering him. As Valdez attempted to apply pressure on the 2016 Olympic silver medallist, the audience cheered him on. The rowdy crowd had lost interest towards the finish of the bout, as Stevenson took the final ten seconds to do a victory lap around the ring while flexing his arms.

Stevenson, to be honest, probably had a harder difficulty planning his post-fight proposal to his fiancée thereafter. What about the battle itself? Complete dominance.
Stevenson used his jab, picked off Valdez from the outside, and used his great defence and poise to dominate nearly every minute of the fight, adding Valdez’s WBC title to his WBO title and collecting The Ring title to his WBO title.
Valdez remained determined throughout the rounds, but he became increasingly frustrated by his inability to impose his will. Stevenson began sitting down on his power blows by round six, and he scored a flash knockdown as Valdez rushed in.
Valdez never quit the fight, but he recognised he needed a major win to turn things around. Stevenson, on the other hand, was not going to give him that opportunity.
When Valdez tried to advance and launch a volley of bombs, he was getting picked off by jabs, straight lefts, and uppercuts as the rounds proceeded. But it was Stevenson’s night, and he’s already thinking about moving up to lightweight to fight the likes of Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia.
Purse And Pay-Outs
Stevenson is expected to make a lot of money from this PPV. For the bout, he was promised $500,000, while Valdez will be paid a base of $375,000. The PPV income will also be split between the combatants, with Stevenson receiving 70% and Valdez receiving 30%. Stevenson might walk away with a cool $1 million if PPV money comes in as projected, but Valdez will only be able to take home $500,000.
If PPV sales don’t proceed as planned, Stevenson’s maximum salary would be approximately $700,000, while Valdes’ would be around $450,000.
